BlackBerry 9800 Slider Going To Be Called Torch 9800?
What’s in a name? A lot if you are re-branding an entire product line. The Bold series has become synonymous with style and power, and it has been a couple years since RIM launched a new product line for their BlackBerry series of phones.
The new 9800 slider, which we’ve seen numerous times already, has had the Bold name attached to it since the beginning, since it was thought that all flagship devices would have the name. Crackberry did a little investigative reporting and found that RIM already owns the domain name to BlackBerryTorch.com.
I don’t know if I like the Torch name at the moment, but I didn’t like iPad when it came out. We’ll see where this goes.

Oh come on now, if you had a real argument then why not state it?
Stupid name: who would put a torch to their ear?
Stupid company: iphone was released in Jan '07, and i'm sure industry insiders knew a little bit earlier what might be coming. They've had plenty of time these last 3.5 years to do something about it, but they haven't. In the high tech game, 3.5 years is a lifetime. Really, how else to characterize a company that takes this long to respond to a change in a market they were leading? We've all seen this before, and we all know where it is headed…
Stupid leadership: see above. Clearly, RIM has lost any sense of directed focus, and certainly lacks a life and death urgency. IMO, such problems come down to a lack of vision, understanding and direction from the leadership.
Now, what was your argument again?

I got a big laugh out of it - because there's no argument to discuss. It's like comparing the Acura TL with the Tech Pack. and compare it with a BMW. Oh! you have more gadgets with the Acura, but they DON'T DRIVE THE SAME as they ARE completely different and do not focus on the same CROWD.
For my use, the iPhone has more apps and even more fun to use, but in no way comparable in the sturdiness and it's everyday ongoing business I'm involved in. As much as the iPhone isn't as good in certain areas as the BB and vice-versa.
I'm not a high tech guy, but in my line of business, I make an extensive use of emails - sms and all, and I find the BB better design for that purpose. If that is their goal (BB), they are far from stupid because everybody using a BB would be classified as stupid. That is why I returned you that first comment. But hey, if you prefer the iPhone, we are not of the same crowd, that's all, I'm sure you're just as intelligent as I am.
Have a great day Pal

I'm sure the mainframe guys (the BMW's) use to think the same thing about PC's (not even Acura's at the start, maybe Toyota's? Hyundai's?).
Anyhow, I guess we will find out in the next couple of years…
cheers!
