The BlackBerry Bold 9800 Slider Running The New Webkit Browser
Today, our tipster decided to be like Santa and pass along a very exciting set of pics for us. The Bold 9800 Slider seems to be the one upcoming BlackBerry device with some good looks, and every day the idea of a touchscreen BB with a full QWERTY keyboard is making more and more sense. We’ve seen similar success with the Motorola Droid, MyTouch 3G, etc., so why can’t RIM get into the game?
This is the same keyboard you know and love from the BlackBerry 9700, mixed with the touchscreen of the Storm series. We don’t yet know if it will be SurePress enabled, but it doesn’t seem likely as most of the text input will be done on the hardware keyboard.
We also see the new WebKit browser with its multiple tabs open and, as we saw previously, its 100% Acidtest3 score. This will ensure that the browser is not only fast, but standards-compliant. Pages will render on the browser as they are meant to on the internet at large.
What do you think? Will this be the phone to win over the masses? Hit the jump for more pictures

Oh I hope that it won't have the same sure press touchscreen. BB should release a non surepress version for their touch screen devices.

having a trackpad and being labeled as Bold 9800, doesn't make sense it has a touchscreen…
the storm doesn't have a trackpad so why would the 9800 have one if it were touchscreen??? it's pure logic

@duncan
i highly doubt we'll see surepress since it has a physical keyboard.

that Rogers name up top sure put a big ol' smile on my face. Very excited for the upcoming two months. i predict the phone will be available by next month in both the states and canada, and if not by then, then july or augest for sure. for canada at least. at&t will have it by next month.

Would you feel comfortable in a car that has no controls and is guided by a sole touch screen? i wouldnt want to have a computer without a mouse, even if it is a touchpad on a laptop, its still more reliable than a touch screen. I have seen the touch screens at work go out several times causing us to resort to a keyboard and mouse.

I disagree the point of making a storm was for it to have sure press thats what you call, a different phone experience and patented. this phone is more likely a non surepress Great idea since the keyboard is physical dont forget theres a trackpad now another reason why it wouldnt have sure press.
no virtual keyboard then why have surepress. a trackpad present. A bit of common sense can help understand the people of this world.

This Blackberry slider is sweet! I love the full screen + full keyboard, it's very much like the Palm Pre, which is a good thing. I think this will sell like hot cakes once it hits the market!

It will be on AT&T in the States. There is no word on which CANADIAN provider is carrying it. Through 2 released videos one with actual commentary it is CLEARLY demonstrated that this is a TRUE touchscreen and performs like the iphone. In all the videos its running OS 6. But not the final release. From what I've scene if that isn't the final release then this phone may just be able to talk after RIM is all said & done! (joke)
FINALLY RIM/BlackBerry is stepping up & FINALLY listening to their customers.
Question is: Is it too much too late?
