Virgin Mobile BlackBerry 9900/9810 Pricing Revealed, Pwns Competition

Virgin Mobile is known for two very special things: their insanely risqué/catchy marketing campaigns and their knack for undercutting the competition. Now that everyone knows that the BlackBerry 7 devices are coming, all we await now - other than confirmed release dates - is termed and non-termed pricing. Thus far only the big 3 have actually confirmed pricing and they’re all around the same $199-$249.99 3-year pricing; of course people complained, but it’s kind of expected at this point. Well, guess what? Today’s little shocker might just change all that; Virgin plans on launching the 9900 at almost $100 cheaper and the 9810 at $50 cheaper than Rogers, Telus and even its own parent company Bell. But, will this price difference be enough to bring customers over to Virgin? Doubtful. What it will cause, however, is lots of calls to customer service for price matching - should they (Big 3) so chose to play the game. Regardless of what happens, I give a hat-tip to Virgin for trying to stir the pricing-war pot, rather than conform to the norm.
