Live From #RogersLTE Q&A

OK, this is a LIVE BLOG so keep refreshing because I will be updating continually.
Pricing? It will be unique, flex rate pricing starting at $45 for 1.5GB, 3GB at $65 and on and the plans will always adjust to the customers’ usage. $10/GB after you hit the maximum 9GB
LTE Sticks: $79 in-store right now, FREE 2 months of usage when you sign on for a 3 year contract.
Why Ottawa? Because they started their tests here, the Government was very good to them loaning them some spectrum and they were able to test it on 700 mhz, 2.5 ghz, and the AWS frequency where it is currently running.
What will happen to the and the GSM & HSPA networks? They will be kept in place right now because so many people use them and but they will eventually be phased out as people stop using them.
Why do you only say 12-25mbps? Because although the network can do more, the average person will probably be able to expect that kind of speeds.
Is there enough spectrum? Rogers is encouraging government to release more spectrum and they are going to continue to bid in spectrum auctions.
How much is Rogers investing in the LTE network? Very confusing question to answer because people rate it differently. Money spent on LTE is also money used for it instead of for HSPA. This year the figure is about $200 million including “backhaul”.
What brands are working to bring LTE PHONES to market? Apple? RIM? No word on Apple or RIM, Samsung and HTC are the ones developing LTE smartphones for Rogers right now.
Will Rogers be working with other providers to lobby their respective governments to make spectrum releases uniform? Unfortunately, that is very difficult but they would like it to happen. It is looking like 2.5 Ghz might be the one where everyone comes together but no promises.
Alright, folks. That’s the end of the Q&A here at #RogersLTE!
There has been a dearth of HTC phones available from Rogers. An earlier answer says HTC and Samsung are developing LTE smartphones for Rogers now. Is your relationship with HTC such that we can expect a number of models from HTC in the near future?
Hi Dan, just to clarify, 3GB of data is actually $60, not $65. Pricing is on rogers.com/LTE if readers want to learn more.
Cheers,
