Virgin Mobile to release the Blackberry Curve 3G
Aug 10th
The ink is barely dry on Rogers’ official launch of the Curve 3G last week, yet with each day comes another carrier with its own plans on launching this device.
This shot of a new advertisement from Virgin just popped up showcasing the Curve 3G alongside the HTC Legend and Blackberry 9700. No release date or pricing is known, but with Bell’s release this Thursday at $49.95 on a 3 year, one can expect roughly the same pricing on Virgin’s end.
More to come as we know.

Jun 11th
Kudos to Virgin Mobile for thinking ahead of their competition in Canada. Not only are they the first discount brand (Bell being their parent company) to launch an Android powered smartphone, but they did it with one sexy machine and are the first carrier in North America to have it.
The Legend comes loaded with OS 2.1 with HTC Sense, a gorgeous 3.2-inch display, 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, flash and video capabilities, Wi-Fi, 3.5 mm audio jack, can hold up to 32GB with a microSD card, music player, FM radio. Overall dimensions are 112 x 56.3 x 11.5mm with a weight of 126 grams. All while launching at a very reasonable $79.99 on a 3 year term or $349.99 outright, positioning this device to be a sure fire hit.

Jun 9th
Canadians seem to be on a roll with good Android phone releases. Sure, the US has the HTC Incredible and EVO 4G, but they’re CDMA devices and thus not transferable to other networks. GSM versions of their cousins, the HTC Legend and Desire, are being released in Canada in the near future, to much fanfare.
We were astounded to find out Bell, not Telus, was releasing the Hero successor, the Legend, and now it seems their subsidiary, and supposed “discount” brand, Virgin Mobile, will be releasing the phone this Friday, June 11th, for a very reasonable $79.99 on a 3-year contract, and $349.99 outright.
The Legend is a worthy successor to the Hero, beefing up a number of the specs and coming stock with Android 2.1 and HTC’s own Sense UI skin. The notable aspect of its release is that it’s the first Android 2.1 Sense phone released for North American 3G networks. This could potentially run on AT&T if it was unlocked.
Look for this in Bell stores on June 16th for the same price.

Virgin Mobile Hopping On The Android Bandwagon?
May 26th
Not too long ago we posted rumors of Bell getting exclusivity on the HTC Legend, one of the hottest Android powered devices to potentially hit the Canadian market. It did come as a shock to some, who expected Telus to be the carrier to make the announcement based on their known love of Android (Having launched the Motorola Milestone and HTC Hero as of recent)
Now further proof has risen of the device’s Canadian existence, however, with a bit of a twist. Turns out it may not be JUST Bell to launch it. Our friends at Mobile Syrup got this spy shot of the Legend in Virgin Mobile’s (the discount partner of Bell) inventory. Though no contract term or release date has been set, it does clearly show a full retail price of $357. This being said it, when/if launched it would be a first for Virgin Mobile (or any Canadian discount carrier for that matter) to house an Android powered smart phone. We can only wait and see the outcome of this, but Bell is playing their cards very well offering up more than just Blackberry to their ever growing discount market.
