AT&T gives Android a chance

One by one carriers are picking/launching the new MOTOBLUR line of Motorola Smartphones. We first had Telus announcing the Backflip last week, than Bell confirming the Dext shortly thereafter, now, the first American carrier has jumped on board for the excitement. AT&T has officially launched their first Android based device and its none other than the Backlfip. You can go to AT&T and pick it up for a very reasonable $99 on a 2 year term with a $100 promotional rebate, or $349.99 outright.

Have you bought it yet? Leave us a comment and let us know how you like MOTOBLUR in all its social networking goodness.

Telus Really Hopping on the Android Bandwagon

In the wake of the report that Motorola is hitting Canada with some new MOTOBLUR (Motorola’s custom version of Android, essentially more social networking focused) based devices this year. Telus has come forward stating they will carry the “Backflip” exclusively. No exact release date has been given, but the “Backflip” combines a full QWERTY keyboard and a touchscreen.

I’m really impressed with Telus’s enthusiasm towards Android devices. They also exclusively carry the “Milestone”, Motorola’s first stab at running the Android OS in their Smartphones (also happens to be Canada’s GSM answer to the very popular DROID running on Verizon’s CDMA network). They clearly see that there is life outside of iPhone/Blackberry devices, though it still hasn’t been full adopted by the Canadian market.
