Video Overview: Rogers Acer Liquid E
Jun 16th
The Acer Liquid E is a tough phone to classify: to look at it is to see a handsome, austere phone, all-black or white, with a sharp WVGA screen running the newest (available) Android OS. Its specs are high-end, even enviable, but it has a strange pedigree. It runs an underclocked Snapdragon processor, using only 75% of its total power to conserve battery; it has only 256MB RAM, where most new phones have 512MB; it has a 5MP camera, but no flash; it feels good in the hand, but looks cheap.
But it is cheap. Rogers is offering the phone at a significant discount over its big brother, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. This is likely because Acer, the phone’s manufacturer, can provide it to the carrier at a discount, since it manufacturers its phones, and doesn’t use expensive parts. The phone costs $49.99 on a 3-year contract and $424.99 on its own (I incorrectly state in the video a no-contract price of $349.99.) That is relatively cheap for a phone with these kinds of high-end specs. Once the phone is rooted and can install custom ROMs, the potential is limitless for Android enthusiasts looking to overclock, tweak and hack, while staying value-conscious.
The rest of the specs also stack up: 800x480px WVGA screen, Wifi, GPS, multi-touch, microSD slot. It runs on Rogers’ mature 3G network, and, while it doesn’t compare to the Nexus One in terms of sheer power, it keeps up quite well.

The Acer Liquid E is a milestone for Rogers. It marks the first Android 2.1 device release for the carrier, and furthers their commitment to Android phones, though their lineup still lacks a truly high-end phone. Actually, all Canadian carriers lack a phone like the HTC Incredible or EVO 4G. Hmm…
Anyway, the Liquid E is a pretty nicely-equipped phone, and is available on a 3-year contract for $49.99. For more information, check out the writeup we did on the device. Get more information at Rogers, too.
Me Love Good Price! Acer Liquid E $49.99 On Rogers In June
May 3rd
An Android 2.1 handset for less than $50? This sells like hot cakes, let me tell you.
Mobile Syrup has it on good authority that the previously-speced Liquid E will be debuting some time in June for $49.99 on a three-year contract, and $349.99 off-contract. The phone’s price is much lower than phones with similar hardware, though it is not known whether this particular model will have an underclocked Snapdragon processor running at 768MHZ or a full-clocked one running at 1GHZ.
Stay tuned for official pricing details.Rog

Rogers Lets Slip (Or Shouts Loudly) That Acer Liquid E Will Ship With Android 2.1
Apr 29th
UrMagazine.ca is the Roger’s version of a trade magazine, showcasing the latest and greatest in their products and services.
In this issue, they profile the Xperia X10, which just launched, and the yet-to-launch Acer Liquid E. We knew this was coming to Rogers eventually, though judging by the timeliness of the piece, I’m guessing it’s sooner rather than later.
That being said, the Liquid E has already been released in other markets, and is equipped quite nicely, with similar specs to the Nexus One. It will come with stock Android 2.1 including Live Wallpapers. There is a Snapdragon processor inside, but it is underclocked to 768MHZ.
