MICRORIM?! Sources claiming RIM is under buy out watch by Microsoft
Feb 11th
Well today I have come across 3 stories claiming the up and coming Mobile World Conference will be a great time for Microsoft, with Steve Ballmer revealing Windows Mobile 7 and the possible announcement of a RIM buyout…? Yes, I know we have heard the rumors before but why would a company like RIM, with their superior technology and more valuable stock, allow itself to be taken over? 3 sources are writing this morning.
Total Telecom
Report claims Microsoft keen on buying BlackBerry maker; Ballmer to host press conference at Mobile World Congress.
Microsoft, which is in danger of being forgotten in the smartphone market, could choose the “if you can’t beat them, buy them” option, following a report claiming it is eyeing an acquisition of RIM.
All Things Digital reported this week that multiple sources at Microsoft have said their outspoken CEO Steve Ballmer has repeatedly expressed interest in buying the BlackBerry maker.
Fierce Mobile
According to the blog AllThingsD, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has repeatedly talked about his interest in buying RIM, say the blog’s multiple unnamed sources. The combo makes sense given both companies’ strong presence in the enterprise market
Telecom Brokerage Inc
Insiders also speculate we’ll hear – or perhaps it’s more like they’re gleefully awaiting – the announcement of a RIM acquisition. All Things Digital says its Microsoft sources say Ballmer is wide open to the idea. (Interestingly, they say he has no interest in Palm.)
So, just more rumors as we have seen in the past? Or more wishful thinking on the part of Microsoft?…weigh in leave a comment.

Voipswitch Blackberry Dialer Will Be Launching At GSMA
Feb 9th
VoiceSwitch will be showing at the GSMA for it’s first time every, and it will make it’s debut the perfect time to launch it’s Voip Dialer for the BlackBerry OS. The Voipswitch Dialer range caters for the Symbian (Nokia), Windows(R) and Android phones. At the convention Voiceserve will be launching its VoIP dialer for Blackberry, a feature which will enable wide spread Blackberry users globally.
Michael Bibelman, Voiceserve’s CEO, commented, “Our software and its broad spectrum of modules creates the opportunity for the masses to become VoIP resellers giving clients access to VoIP telephony from the wide range of mobile units. With the launch of the Blackberry dialer, our range of mobile dialers is complete.
So what does all this mean for BlackBerry Users?. The Voiceserve Voipswitch Mobile dialer is a simple software package that enables regular cell phone users to make calls using a mobile phone via an Internet connection. So this means, potential true Voip for the BlackBerry as well as cheaper ways for Businesses to do Business with the BlackBerry force. In addition to making a VoIP phone call through a mobile phone, Voiceserve is one of the first to provide users all the cellular features to which they have become accustomed including SMS text, conference call, call waiting, video conferencing, voice mail and call forwarding.
We are finally moving towards data only smartphones and plans , which will help solidify such services as Google Voice, imagine 1 number for everywhere, with no cell minute charges…sounds ideal. But what this will ultimately do to the already taxed data lines of some companies such as AT&T is yet to be seen. It’s starting to become crowded up there.
We are also truly witnessing a Technology Revolution, I will personally be able to say I saw the birth of the Cellular Phone and it’s demise as well as rise of Data Only communications. Wow what a story for my Grand-kids Eh !

Yourshortcut.mobi a great idea from Blackberrysites.com
Jan 9th
We all know the BlackBerry browser has its issues, and although it has come a long way, it is still hard to render many pages and navigate around most websites. The best thing to do is to try and find a website built for mobile browsers….but this is not always an easy task, especially with the iphone being so popular many sites are abandoning the mobile site model for a somewhat more “mobile friendly accessibly site model”. IF you are lucky when you put in your url into your BlackBerry it will redirect you to a mobile site designed for multiple mobile browsers, but most of the time you are stuck looking for mobile sites that have the info you want. Well now there is a much easier way, thanks to Joe over at BlackBerrySites.com,
he has created “yourshortcut.mobi” a fast and easy way to find mobile sites you can use. Yourshortcut.mobi is a list of hundreds of mobile sites from BlackBerry related sites to Jokes to just about anything your can imagine or need, it even has a quick launch icon tab so you can send yourshortcut.mobi to your desktop, this makes finding the mobile site and info you need simple, convenient and fast. The list of Mobile sites is extremely impressive, and is sorted by categories and drill down lists. All the sites added are already tested, so all you need to do is click and go, each site also has its own quick launch icon. Joe had mentioned that yourshortcut is more like a community built list as you can send in mobile sites to be added to the list through his request form. But I still believe if not for Joe at Blackberrysites.com we wouldn’t have the list to start with…..I love just browsing the sites, even if I am not looking for anything specific. It is a great way to find new stuff and discover new sites and interests. This is definitely a must have for any BlackBerry Owner…and its free…thanks Joe.

This BlackBerry app gets your car humming.
Jan 8th
I have always been Jealous of my buddies with the push button start cars, or cars with those remote key-less entry systems…I know I would never be able to afford such a luxury car…but now it looks like my BlackBerry and the Smart Minds at Viper will be bringing me closer to my dream car accessory with Viper Smart Start. They now have a BlackBerry app that will give drivers the remote power to lock and unlock the car, pop the trunk, trigger the panic siren, and yes, start that engine from afar. This is a very sweet application, and such a great Idea…Keys!!!…. one less thing to carry around…or misplace…or lock in the car lol…read on ….
Story by Jessica Dolcourt of Cnet
We’re also hoping that like the iPhone version, Viper SmartStart for BlackBerry will be able to control multiple vehicles and add in layers of security so that would-be smartphone thieves don’t get a free car in the process.
While the Viper app will be free from BlackBerry App World (and likely from the Viper site as well,) getting any hardware you don’t have will run you between $300 and $500 smackeroos.
If you’ve got a compatible Viper remote start system already in place, the VSM100 Viper SmartStart upgrade module or the equivalent DSM100 Directed SmartStart module will set you back $299. If these names fail to ring a bell, you’ll be looking at acquiring a remote start system from Viper, Clifford, or Python to talk to the app. Viper’s SmartStart System (VSS4000), which is fully compatible with the app, lists for $499. The bloodletting doesn’t stop there. If the terms from the iPhone app hold with BlackBerry, you’ll also need an active subscription to Viper’s Smart Start service, which goes for $29.99 after the first free year.
Since Viper SmartStart comes at a hefty price and requires much professionally-installed hardware, it’s a safe assumption that the SmartStart app won’t make its way onto most US residents’ lists of must-have apps. However, the luxury of starting, pinging, or unlocking your car from anywhere in the country has its benefits-getting the car going without you having to brave the elements, popping the trunk while you’re at work to let a family member retrieve an item, readying your getaway car.
Still, for the up-front and ongoing price, we’d like to see even more remote controls, such as cranking on the heat or air conditioning, waking up the radio, and defogging the glass.
