Verizon Upgrading Plagued Tours To Bold 9650′s For Free! Act Now!
LouiV over at BBLeaks wrote an article about Verizon having major issues with their latest Tour OS 5.0.0.732. Their newest OS release apparently brought on more bugs than fixes.
It is said that if you are experiencing major issues with 5.0.0.732, and go through the troubleshooting process with Verizon tech support, the rep will likely send you a refurbished Bold 9650. To solidify this claim, one of BBLeaks’ readers posted a comment saying he just got off the phone with Verizon and their replacement Tours are out of stock! Verizon said they would call him back tomorrow and if they are still out of stock, they will send him the most comparable device!
If you’ve recently upgraded your Tour to OS 5.0.0.732 and experiencing issues, you better get on the horn and tell Verizon what’s up. Chances are you’re stuck in your contract and you’ve been looking for a way to upgrade your Tour to a Bold 9650 anyway, which is arguably what the Tour should have been in the first place. Things have a funny way of working out, don’t they?
UPDATE: I’m glad to see that many people did recieve a Bold 9650 and new in box at that! I guess it was too early for Verizon to have refurbished Bold’s in stock. However, Verizon now has replacement Tour’s back in stock, so if you call in with issues, you will now receive a refurbished Tour as a replacement.

yeah believe it or not this totally worked! My Tour has been getting on my nerves lately (consistent reboots, all around annoying ness). So I called in to tech support and explained my issues to verizon, my headset jack dying, the trackball not knowing how to roll to the right, the ability for it to freeze like there is no tomorrow, among other things. , The lady who i talked to was super nice replied, that since we don't have any replacement tour's in stock we will give you a bold instead. Nice lady, I enjoyed the talk.
I'm going to make an assumption that Verizon might have realized that double releasing an OS version for both devices might not have been a good idea.
While I don't know whether Verizon is just trying to help us with the serious failure that was .732 or the kind of underwhelming effort that was the blackberry tour that they are being so helpful and trading tours with bolds left and right, but I'm pretty sure a lot of tour owners will be happy with Verizon once again.
Verizon for the Win? I know why I've stuck with them for so long
so yes, if you are having problems with .732, just call verizon, They will help you out indeed.

My trackball has been plaguing me for the last few months, not to mention the freezes and lags no matter what OS I install. Tried this and it definitely works. Bold 9650 here I come!

I called in this afternoon. They had me follow their troubleshooting procedures to satisfaction and decided to sent me a replacement, They never mentioned a different device. Since its Friday evening, it ships on Monday. Unfortunately, I think I will be getting a Tour.

i kind of hope this isnt going to end up with a mass “make up problems with your phone and get an upgrade” frenzy. but then again, if it is, its one of those it is what it is things.
hopefully everyone comes out of this with a working phone, with all of its parts, and a smile on their faces
