NetworkWorld write Brad Reed sat down with Verizon executive vice president and CTO Tony Melone to discuss VZW’s plans for their LTE network.

Some of the things that stood out:
• First step is making sure to the network can support the move – no iPhone-it is
• 25-30 markets will have LTE coverage (in some form) by year end with full 4G by 2013
o Some networks currently without 3G will move straight to 4G
• At some point, customers might have 3G voice coverage with 4G data

Melone also pointed out that VZW is ahead of schedule and that things are, “looking better each day, not worse each day.”
