What’s new in the BlackBerry 10.0.10.85 update?

Remember that seemingly minor BlackBerry 10 update that started rolling out to users nationwide yesterday? Turns out it’s not so minor. BlackBerry just published a blog post detailing the top 5 features included in the update, and it’s a doozy.
For starters, BlackBerry says that 3rd-party apps will run faster and smoother after the update, which is always good news! BlackBerry specifically calls out WhatsApp (launching in March) as an app that will greatly benefit from these improvements. The update also fixes the Google CalDAV syncing issue that has plagued the OS since launch, and also provides improvements to call logging and conversation handling in BlackBerry HUB. The camera software has also been tweaked to reportedly provide better low-light shots, while video playback in the browser has been enhanced as well.
Perhaps the most notable change in the 10.0.10.85 update is battery life optimization - BlackBerry says users will enjoy longer battery life thanks to “over 60 battery saving improvements” included in the software update.
The 150MB update should be available to all BlackBerry Z10 users right now. Just go to Settings> Software Updates> Check for Updates to get started.
