Nokia has announced two new Windows Phone 8 devices at Mobile World Congress today, the first of which is their new low-end phone, the Lumia 520. Replacing the Lumia 510 released in October, the 520 features a redesigned exterior, better specs, and interchangeable back covers in different colours.

The Lumia 520 sports a 4-inch WVGA display, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of storage, a microSD card slot, and a 5-megapixel rear camera. It’s also running Windows Phone 8, unlike its predecessor which was stuck with Windows Phone 7.5. Nokia has also opted not to included NFC or wireless charging support, understandable for a low-end device.

Though the 520 won’t blow anyone away in the specs department, the major selling point here is the price - at €139, this is Nokia’s cheapest Windows Phone 8 device yet. It’s obviously aimed at emerging markets, but Nokia says they plan to offer a Lumia 521 variant on T-Mobile in the U.S. some time in the future. No word on launch date yet.
