LG announces 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro for South Korea [updated with photos!]

LG announced their latest Android smartphone, the 5-inch Optimus G Pro, for the Japanese market late last month, but it appears that a second variant is headed for South Korea in the near future. LG has started teasing a larger model of the Optimus G Pro - one with a Galaxy Note sized 5.5-inch display - on their South Korean website. While we’re likely to hear more about this upcoming “phablet” at Mobile World Congress next week, LG has started a social campaign, promising to reveal more details about the 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro the more Facebook Likes they get. No word on if this monster of a phone will be launched in North America at all, though that could change at MWC next week.
UPDATE: Well, that was fast! It seems enough people have “Liked” LG’s Facebook page, so they’ve confirmed some of the specs of the phone, and posted a few official shots of the device in all its glory! The Optimus G Pro features a “pixel” design on its back, very reminiscent of the Nexus 4. LG has also confirmed the 5.5-inch “full HD” 1080p display, and quad-core processor. The phone is expected to launch by late February, so expect to see much more of this at MWC!
