iPhone and iPad owners who use iOS 6′s new Do Not Disturb mode woke up on New Years Day to… well, nothing, which is exactly the problem. It turns out the new year broke the Do Not Disturb feature, which failed to turn off as scheduled for many users. Personally, I did not experience this on January 1st, but noticed this morning that “DND” did not turn off automatically at 8:00 am like it was supposed to. Toggling Do Not Disturb off then on again did not seem to fix the problem, as many had suggested a day earlier.

Fortunately, Apple says the bug will resolve itself this coming Monday, January 7th, and advises users to manually turn ‘Do Not Disturb’ on and off in the meantime. Not the best possible solution, but it will have to do. This isn’t the first time that Apple’s iOS has been screwed up by date and time changes: similar bugs have been present since iOS 4 way back in 2010, and Daylight Savings time frequently wreaks havoc on iOS.
