Facebook updated their official smartphone apps yesterday, finally launching a fully native version of their Android application. While iOS users have enjoyed a native Facebook experience since the end of August, Android users have been stuck using the slower, older HTML5 app. The new Facebook 2.0 for Android has been re-written using native code, meaning Android users will enjoy a much faster Facebook experience when viewing photos, browsing their News Feed, and scrolling their friends’ Timelines.

The Facebook for iOS app also received a minor update yesterday, which brings improved speed when browsing the News Feed, and a “completely rewritten” Timeline that loads much faster than before. The update also allows iPhone users to choose an existing photo album when uploading photos, a much requested feature.

Android users can grab Facebook 2.0 from Google Play, while iOS users can get their latest update from the App Store!
