See who comes-a-knockin’ with DoorBot, the first WiFi “smart” doorbell

If you’re looking to make your house as futuristic as possible, DoorBot may be of interest to you! Described as a WiFi “smart” doorbell, DoorBot is the latest invention of Jamie Siminoff’s Edison Junior Design Laboratory. The device is essentially a video camera-equipped doorbell, that allows users to see who is at their door from anywhere in their home using the companion smartphone app. DoorBot will be shown off in functional form next month at CES 2013.
The device is also compatible with Lockitron, so users can actually unlock their house remotely for close family and friends. While the device is not yet available, Edison Jr. is currently raising money to fund the project through a Kickstarter-like campaign. DoorBot will be available in two models, the basic DoorBot for $169, and the DoorBot + Lockitron for $319.
