I’m a huge fan of SENA’s premium leather cases. I used an UltraSlim as the primary case for my iPhone 4 and 4S, and recently purchased a new one (in green!) for my iPhone 5.

If you’ve never heard of SENA before, they produce beautiful, high quality, hand-stitched leather cases for everything from smartphones, to tablets, to laptops, and even GPS systems. Their cases are extremely well-made and durable, and even better, they’re affordable; the UltraSlim I purchased for my iPhone 5 runs just $30.

Which brings me to the Folio Classic, a leather portfolio case for the iPad 2, 3, and 4. While it is one of SENA’s pricier cases at $99, it’s well worth the price. The Folio Classic features a smooth leather exterior, with a soft felt interior. The iPad slides in through the side and fits quite snugly inside the case. As with all of SENA’s products, the leather will loosen up after a few days of use.

The Folio Classic features opening along the sides for access to the iPad’s sleep/wake button, volume rocker, and mute switch, as well as an opening on the bottom for the speaker and dock connector. There is also an opening for the rear camera on the back.

In use, the Folio Classic can feel slightly awkward at times. There is no Smart Cover functionality here (though SENA does offer that in their higher-end “Florence” models), so you’ll either have to hold it like a book, or fold the cover back. As with most other portfolio cases, the leather “frame” around the iPad can get in the way when typing, but it’s not a huge problem, and it certainly does not make the iPad unusable.

However the primary function of a case is protection, and the Folio Classic succeeds here. As I said before, the iPad fits snugly inside and can’t fall out by accident. The case covers both the front and back of the iPad, so scratches are also a non-concern. And though I refuse to try dropping my iPad on purpose, I’m confident that the Folio Classic would do a good job of protecting the tablet if it were dropped from a short distance.

If you’re looking at buying a leather case for your device, chances are you’re looking for something stylish, and the SENA Folio Classic (and every other SENA case, for that matter) is certainly a stylish case. It has an air of professionalism to it, and I can definitely see this being a business professional’s case-of-choice to dress up their iPad.

SENA cases are a great choice if you want an affordable, stylish, premium leather case for your device, and the Folio Classic is a great choice for iPad owners.
