Not long ago I wrote a post for Rogers Connected Magazine highlighting the top 5 “must have” iPhone 5 accessories. As frequent readers of the site would expect, I named the Sena “Ultra Slim” as my number 1 “go to” and couldn’t be more confident with that choice. You see, not two weeks after writing that post, and fresh off their pre-order announcement, FedEx showed up at my doorstep with a few gifts courtesy of SenaCases. So let’s get right down to business and talk about the new and improved Ultra Slim Access case for the iPhone 5.

Design and Usability:

Aside from fitting with absolute hand-stitched perfection, one thing I will point out from the get go is that Sena listened to critics complaints and fixed one of the minor drawbacks of the Ultra Slim: the initial fit; it was simply too tight. Before the case had officially broken in, it was a struggle to access the phone with ease. With the iPhone 5 Ultra Slim Access, I found it to be easy to frequently access my device, even with a Wrapsol protective system installed.

You will also notice below that Sena has added the “Access” to the name, as opposed to the standard Ultra Slim. The reason for this is the new inclusion of an easy access charging slot, making charging on the go a breeze. With previous Ultra Slim cases, the phone would have to be out of the case to charge, or simply upside down. I think this is a cool feature, however it makes it a bit awkward to take a call because the case slides down the charging port and is a bit of a nuisance to have to drag back up to use again.

Overall:

My love and bias for this brand continues . You can easily spend $10 less and buy a “leather” case for your iPhone 5, but it feels nothing like a Sena, nor will it have the longevity of one. You’ve just invested hundred dollars on a shiny new iPhone 5, what’s $30 more to have stylish, durable and long-lasting protection? Don’t cheap out on it.
