As some of you know, for the last week or two I’ve been playing around the ridiculously fast Motorola ATRIX HD LTE from Bell and have tweeted here and there about my likes and dislikes of the device. Stay tuned for that review coming shortly. Today, however, I am talking about one of the features that isn’t spoken about nearly enough: Mobile TV over Bell’s LTE network.

In the spirit of being me, I’ll put it bluntly: when it wants to work, it does it well; however, when it’s buggy and off-game, let’s just say you may as well get back to work. I found that some of my favorite channels (TSN namely) just didn’t want to respond (see below) - especially annoying when I wanted to procrastinate and watch the US open :p. As you can see from the above image, though, when the channel worked, the picture was stunning and almost HD quality (they’re not at HD, yet), especially when consistently pausing and playing to test it out.

The mobile TV service offers 26 channels of live programming and a pile of on demand content thrown in for good measure. The UI has been tidied up, a programming guide has made an appearance, alerts are now here so you won’t miss shows and flipping to portrait mode from landscape lets you browse the new guide while your current show plays on.

Overall, Bell Mobile TV has come a long way from its humble beginnings and is definitely worthwhile to tryout if you’re a TV buff with a lot of data on your hands.

Bell Mobile TV is $5/M for 10-hours of TV watching. Learn more here

Stay tuned, as we have one Motorola ATRIX HD LTE up for grabs for you to give Mobile TV your own hands-on time with.
