And it’s official. At their press conference today, Samsung formally announced the Android 4.1-powered Galaxy Note 2; here are the specs:

• 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED display with 16:9 ratio
• 1.6Ghz quad-core Exynos processor
• 2GB RAM
• 8MP camera and 3100mAh battery.

Unfortunately the screen has not been upgraded from the original Galaxy Note.

As for the design, though it looks exactly like it’s kid sister the Galaxy S III, it still fits a stylus and comes with the following add-ons:

Air View – Hovering the S Pen over emails, S Planner, an image or video allows the user to quickly preview content without actually having to open it
Popup Note – Pulling the S Pen out during a call automatically opens a new note for quickly jotting down notes
Quick Command – Using the S Pen, you can quickly and easily open frequented applications
Easy Clip – Pressing the button on the S Pen users can quickly outline and crop any content to edit and paste elsewhere
Idea Vizualizer – In S Note, users can insert illustrated images using handwritten keywords

As for availability, it is coming in October this year in Europe and Asia, and North America later in the year. Pricing, carriers and other details are stil yet to be told.
