And the gauntlet has been dropped hard. I mean like wow. Apple has just won the mammoth patent infringement case against Samsung to the tune of $1,051,855,000. Apple has won its claim that Samsung was using multiple patents surrounding hardware, software, and a trade-dress dilution.

The compensation for the fines was broken down by device in the jury’s verdict. The fines are as follows:

• $57 million for the Samsung Prevail
• $44,792,974 for the Infuse 4G
• $53,123,612 for the Mesmerize
• $3,350,256 for the Replenish
• $954,060 for the Transform

This case sets a huge precedent to other players in the Android game. Considering Samsung is the largest, the landscape for intellectual property in mobile, and who reigns supreme, may have just shifted.
