Listen, I know RIM has their work cut out for them to regain stockholder (and consumers) trust, but geez, can we not leave them alone for at least one week? While I am not one known for posting on rumours, yesterday afternoon an interesting - and not too far-fetched - one began circulating that RIM would be splitting into two divisions: one focused on handset manufacturing, the other, their messaging platform. While, it doesn’t sound too far off, it started from an “analyst close to the situation” and not RIM themselves.

Good thing the fine folks at MobileSyrup decided to reach out for a word from them directly. Here is what they had to say:

“RIM has hired advisers to help the Company examine ways to leverage the BlackBerry platform through partnerships, licensing opportunities and strategic business model alternatives. As Thorsten said on the Company’s fourth-quarter earnings call, ‘We believe the best way to drive value for our stakeholders is to execute on our plan to turn the company around.’ This remains true.”

Right, a clear and definitive answer….

What they just did is confirm what we all already know, that they’re focused on turning the company around. Part of the plan is to deliver the BlackBerry 10 OS and devices to the world by “the latter part of 2012.”

Hopefully something more concrete comes today or tomorrow. Do you think they should split? Leave your thoughts below.
