Review: Virgin Mobile HTC One S

If you’ve wondered what the new iPhone would look like, you can bet it will be something along the lines of HTC’s One S — from speculation to theories proven by internal code, this is the epitome of Apple’s next release. Not wanting to wait for the next iPhone, looking to jump ship to a more open platform, or just love Android and want something new? This may very well be your next handset.
While the One S may be overshadowed by the flagship One X, it is still a more than capable device that holds it’s own claim to fame. The massive display on the One X is a turnoff for a lot of people, this is where the One S shines. Although the display may be narrower, it still boasts comparable hardware to that of it’s bigger brother.
Just as with any PenTile display released in a handset, people shed a lot of doubt and speculation. They read about how PenTile is bad for this or bad for that and never actually use the phone for themselves to see if it’s something that they may actually enjoy using. I, personally, have no issues with the PenTile technology utilized in the One S display. Using the phone side by side with my iPhone 4S I prefered the display size of the One S and it maintained comparable image clarity.
The One S shares the same Snapdragon S4 processor as the LTE One X, but it doesn’t stop there — it also shares the same camera as well as the hardware makeup — in essence, it’s a more-narrow One X. Both are qualified as prestigious devices, the One X being the flagship only due to the size of it’s display.
If you’re in the market for a new Android handset but don’t want to mingle with the 4.8” display on the One X, or prefer the better battery life that you’ll receive on an HSPA+ handset over that of it’s LTE counterpart, I feel this phone is the one for you.
