This is one of those “why didn’t I think of that” app and rightfully so - it’s brilliant. The idea behind Flixel is that standard photos can get rather, well, dull. The app allows the user to mix their standard filtered (or unfiltered) photo with the remerging love for .GIF’s, thus bringing it to life or “Flixeling” it. But how does it work? What Flixel does is shoot a series of frames as you film said memory. Once completed, the stroke of genius that is the coding talent of Toronto’s Endloop Mobile, allows the user to “paint” over a specific part of the frame thus bring the animated .GIF to life. Again, brilliant.

I have personally had a hands-on with it, and was completely blown away.

Flixel is expected to go live this morning in Apple’s App Store.
