How do dating and technology relate?

Valentines day, dreaded Valentines day; the one day of the year where love is put on a pedestal and creativity is the key to success.
Being said, with the influx in cellular usage over the years, people are starting to rely quite heavily on voice-less communication with said loved ones - even in times of despair. Now that we are on the topic of love and communication, ever wonder the exact stats behind it? Rogers did, and decided to take a poll to find out what you all thought - here are the results:
18% of people admit to being dumped via text message
Among 18-24 year olds the phone is still the number one method (60% agree) for asking someone out on a first date.
Youth between the ages of 18-24 spend 2.5 hours communicating with their significant others.
25% of Canadian technology users say the use of technology to stay connected with their significant other keeps their relationship exciting.
14% of women versus 9% of men feel texting is a perfectly fine way to ask someone out on a first date.
The poll is quite interesting and there are even more stats to read. Check out Redboard for the full list of questions asked!
