Here we go, round two in my series of Sena Cases reviews. This time featuring the classic “Ultra-Slim” for my beloved BlackBerry 9790. You might think there is not a lot to say about a phone case, but they’re in fact really important.

The accessories we choose for our phones, say as much about us as our phones themselves.

You see, Italian Napa leather is much, much different than the standard style leather we all have grown accustomed to. It has a very soft-to-touch feel mixed with that rugged, broken in look; something that is a welcome change when you’re rough on your cellular goods, but don’t want to compromise quality. Regular leather tends to scratch up fast, losing its lackluster shine very early on. While yes, the standard OEM cases have the similar “rugged” look to them, they are far from being real leather, let alone handmade Italian Napa.

And then there is Sena, a name synonymous with class and style. A name a business professional like myself is proud to pull out of his blazers inside pocket when checking his calendar in a meeting (rather than the standard low-end cases that have become the norm) adding that extra touch of elegance. Look at it this way: you wouldn’t go into a meeting with a pair of sweat pants and super expensive watch on, so why would you put a $10 case on a $500 smartphone? And where this case differs from the Hampton Flip (that I previously spoke about) is its subtlety; unless someone really knows what you’re using, it’s a classy, slim, and soft-spoken way to protect your phone. Whereas in all its usefulness, the Hampton can come across as a bulky and intrusive extension of your device.

As with many of the Sena cases which have come and gone from my possession, the ultra-slim has quickly become a “must have” item for me. It also makes me excited for my pending time with its sister, the iPhone 4S Ultra-Slim, which I am gearing up to review early next week.
