Remember that outage back on October 11th and lasted until the 14th? Well, the Consumer Law Group in the Quebec Superior Court sure didn’t forget as they are filing a class action lawsuit against the Waterloo based company “on behalf of individuals who have BlackBerry smartphones and who pay for a monthly data plan but were unable to access their email, BlackBerry Messenger service (BBM), and/or Internet for the period of October 11 to 14, 2011.” The suit also states “RIM’s failure to take action to either directly compensate BlackBerry users or to indirectly compensate BlackBerry users by arranging for wireless service providers to refunds their customers and to take full responsibility for these damages.” RIM did take quite some time to come forward and announce that there was a problem, and what that problem was. co-CEO Mike Lazaridis then came out with a public apology and also offered free premium apps and tech support to all those affected, but it seems this was not enough.

RIM has 70 million plus users worldwide but has no plan to reimburse these users for the downtime.
