If you haven’t yet heard about the Galaxy Nexus yet, then you’ve obviously been living under a rock. Samsung and Google have finally unleashed the first device to feature Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and the first with a 4.65″ HD Super AMOLED display at 720p resolution.

Ice Cream Sandwich was developed to bridge the gap between smartphone and tablet and it looks to have done quite the job if you ask me. Some key features from Ice Cream Sandwich that we have already mentioned in a previous post are Android Beam which allows you to share content with other NFC-enabled devices. Another nice feature is Ice Cream Sandwich says using PINS and password to unlock your device is so last year and allows you to unlock your device by using facial recognition. You will also notice there are no hardware buttons on the front of the device, the only buttons you will find are software navigation buttons, the idea was taken from Honeycomb as Honeycomb tablets do away with hardware buttons.

Ice Cream Sandwich has a new People app that integrates all social networks and shows high-resolution photos for each contact. My favourite improvement is the camera, when they demonstrated it in the webcast I was blown away. It has panorama mode built in, no need for third-party app, captures video in 1080p, and here is the biggest news ZERO-SHUTTER lag.

As always with “pure Google: devices you will be first to receive software upgrades along with new apps.
