Google Maps Updated: Adds NFC Support for Android Beam

Google Maps has just been updated but, the only change in the change log is “reduces app storage size”, or is it?. If you look though the Permissions tab you will see;
“CONTROL NEAR FIELD COMMUNICATION
Allows an application to communicate with Near Field Communication (NFC) tags, cards, and readers. It is likely the update is adding support for Android Beam, an app much like Bump for iOS but uses NFC to share locations, files, videos and more which was introduced at the Galaxy Nexus/Ice Cream Sandwich event Tuesday.
You can update Google Maps from the Android Market found here.
