CyanogenMod for TouchPad: Alpha release

Remember those videos back in the day showing off Android running on a TouchPad, but had the disclaimer “running, but nothing works”. Well good news for all those TouchPad owners with a love for Android.
The folks over at CyanogenMod have been working day in and day out to get the likes of Android ported to the TouchPad; bounty of $1500 is still up for grabs. Looks like that hard work has finally paid off. CyanogenMod 7.1 is now available for the TouchPad but, hold your horses, as mentioned in the title this is an Alpha release and with all Alpha releases there should be some caution taken. This build is named the “lower your expectations” build for a reason;
*** This early version represents the start of a process, not the end, and as such will not be sufficiently awesome, so take any expectations you have and lower them. Now lower them about five feet below that. ***
While there is a nice size list of features that do work, there is an even bigger list of features that don’t, so big they aren’t even making a list. If I haven’t scared you away yet and you feel that installing Android is more important than that warranty on your TouchPad, here are a few things you can expect to work;
* Power, back/home and volume button layout
* Touchscreen support (Multi-touch, 10 fingers)
* GPU Acceleration (2D Acceleration doesn’t work, but not a release blocker)
* Dual core processing
* Bluetooth
* Sound
* Accelerometer
* Camera(only video chat, no recording or snapshots)
* Multiboot (via moboot)
* Accessing webOS files from Android and vice versa
* Touchstone Support
* Wifi

As a TouchPad owner I do not feel comfortable enough yet to install this build. If anyone out there does install this build I would love to hear how your experience went, so drop us a note in the comments.
