Canadian startup Mobiroo to offer app gift cards for BlackBerry and Android apps

Apple iTunes users have had the convenience of Apple gift cards for a very long time, allowing them to redeem them for credit towards apps, songs, and other content available in the App Store. BlackBerry and Android users have unfortunately been out of that loop, and a Canadian company by the name of Mobiroo is aiming to fill that gap. Partnering with a host of major retailers, including Future Shop, 7-11, Target, and GameStop, the company will be selling gift cards redeemable for applications available in their own store.
I took a minute to browse through the selection available currently, and the catalogue is quite respectable, with apps like Bejeweled from EA, right down to Wallpaper Changer from Shaosoft. I can only expect that the selection will grow once the word gets out in the development community, as the program provides a huge incentive for developers looking to boost their sales. The gift cards are set to hit stores here in Canada very soon, with the US and Europe slated for late October.
More details on Mobiroo can be found on their site, www.mobiroo.com, and if you visit via your Android or BlackBerry smartphone you can view a list of apps tailored to your particular device.
