Over the last few weeks, both Rogers and Bell have announced their LTE network expansion/launch, with Bell having flipped the switch and Rogers slated to do so on the 28th in the Greater Toronto Area. While each has put some numbers up in their press releases boasting their theoretical download speeds, PR material is geared to put the information available into the best frame possible. Yours truly, the Intrepid Cell Guru took a ride around today with Rogers, armed with a laptop and an LTE stick from each of the carriers to get some “”real world” data on the two networks.

As you can see from the images, there are a few differences between the two, which is not unexpected. What is interesting about both tests, is that while Rogers consistently came in with higher ping times than Bell, they also had higher download speeds by a wide margin. It’s difficult to extrapolate any real hard data from either of these tests, other than based on the results, Rogers seems to have the faster (download speed) network.

Take the data for what it’s worth to you, but it’s interesting to see what the real life numbers come out at when you strip away all the PR. If you want to know where the coverage is from either of the carriers in your area, hit the links below for full coverage maps.
