Potential tablet buyers that have been keeping an eye on PlayBook pricing in the hopes of a reduction are in luck starting today, as Walmart, Best Buy, and Future Shop all weigh in with sales on RIM’s tablet. Wal-Mart is leading the pack, offering the 16GB model for only $249, fully half off the MSRP. Best Buy waded into the fray earlier this morning, offering $100 off any model of the tablet, putting a 16GB model at $399.99, and Future Shop has one-upped them, offering the same $100 off deal, but sweetening the pot with an additional $100 credit if you purchase online at futureshop.ca.

We expected to see some sales on the PlayBook come up, particularly after the earnings call on the 15th, but it’s curious that so far the only ones doing so are Canadian retailers. Whatever the reason, it’s a good time to snag a PlayBook if you’ve been lusting for one but have held off in hopes of a good deal.
