Toshiba announces the AT200 tablet, release date still unknown
Toshiba finally confirmed the rumours today, announcing the impending release of their new AT200 tablet. While many will shrug it off as yet another Android tablet joining the already bloated ranks, the spec sheet makes this device a serious contender with the Galaxy Tab 10.1. The new tablet measures in at 10.1″, same as the Tab, but is also a full mm thinner at 7.7mm. Size matters in the mobile game, with nerds nitpicking over 0.2 mm differences in thickness, so an extra mm off is nothing to scoff at. The display runs at a 1280×800 resolution, and the tablet is hiding a 1.2 Ghz TI OMAP 4430 processor under the hood.Front and back facing cameras spec in at 2 megapixel and 5 megapixel respectively, and Toshiba is boasting up to eight hours of battery life.
All we need now is a release date, which Toshiba remains silent on. All they have been willing to say at this point is that it will ship “by the end of this year”.
