SaskTel rolling out LTE network in Fall 2012
Mobile users in Saskatchewan are in for a treat next year, as SaskTel announced today that they will be rolling out an LTE network for their customers. Beginning with Regina and Saskatoon, the network will expand gradually to encompass the outlying areas, eventually becoming available across their coverage map. Boasting download speeds of 100 Mbps, and upload speeds of 50 Mbps, Sasktel currently does not offer any devices that actually support LTE as of this time, but plan on adding several to their lineup prior to launch.
This move makes Sasktel the first wireless carrier to offer LTE in the province, and plans to initially use their existing 4G network for voice and the new LTE for data, until the new network supports both.
