Calgary-based Poynt goes live with Child Search Alerts
Today, Poynt and the MCSC (Missing Children Society of Canada) went live with their new partnership, a geo-location based notification system contained within Poynt. The basic premise is simple, although the potential benefits to those with lost children could be astronomical. Any parent that has lost a child, even for a moment, can tell you that it is the worst feeling in the world. Poynt and the MCSC aim to help with the timely dissemination of information on missing children by pushing alerts to users of the app based on their location.
Given that we are becoming an increasingly mobile culture, this initiative will get necessary information into the hands of many more people, much faster than ever before. The alerts will direct users to a mobile website that will display information about the child, including descriptions, poictures, people who may be with them, and the location in which they are thought to potentially be. A powerful tool, and as a father, one I never hope to need, but am thankful that someone has provided.
Poynt is available on BlackBerry, iPhone, and Android devices.
