Reports have come in from Reuters sources alleging that Apple is manufacturing a cheaper 8GB model of the iPhone 4. Following the same path they did with the 3GS, launching an 8GB model alongside the iPhone 4 release, the strategy is aimed at first-time smartphone buyers looking to own their first smartphone without paying through the nose for it.

Rumored to be launching in September with the iPhone 5, everything is just speculation at this point, but I’m sure more will come to light in the weeks ahead. As always, this time of year sees the Apple rumour mill hard at work, so for now we’ll take everything with a grain of salt and wait to see more concrete eveidence surface.
