HP liquidates Touchpads in fire sale, get one while you can
With HP’s abandonment of the WebOS platform, there was a ton of speculation as to what might happen with the surplus of Touchpads out on the market. Here’s your answer, in an apparent attempt to salvage whatever they can, HP has instructed retail outlets to get rid of them as quickly as possible, knocking hundreds off the sticker price. Although the pricing isn’t supposed to start until tomorrow, word is that some Best Buy and Future Shop outlets are already selling them at that price.
While most of us wouldn’t spend the cash to buy one at full retail knowing that the software powering it will be unsupported going forward, $99 for a 16GB/$149 for a 32GB tablet is a hard deal to pass up. This deal is only on the 16GB and 32GB models right now, with no word on whether HP will be following suit with the 64GB model at some point.
If you’re looking for a cheap tablet, you can’t go wrong. Will you be running out to grab one? Drop a comment if you are, or if you already have!
