ITC rules HTC violated two Apple patents
According to a report published Friday, the International Trade Commission has stated that HTC has violated two patents held by Apple. Although the ruling is final, things are not looking very good for HTC, which has a lot to lose, as Apple has requested that the ITC block the U.S. importation of any HTC devices that are found to violate Apple’s patents. Of course what’s more likely to happen is Apple and HTC enter a cash settlement or licensing deal, but it’s still not a great spot for HTC to be in. Grace Lei, HTC’s general counsel, responded to the ruling with the following statement: “HTC will vigorously fight these two remaining patents through an appeal before the ITC commissioners who make the final decision. This is only one step of many in these legal proceedings.”
