An Angry Birds movie is on the way

If you needed any more proof that Angry Birds is a brand that is here to stay, this news officially seals the deal: Angry Birds “The Movie” is coming to a theater near you. David Maisel, ex-Chairman of Marvel Studios, confirmed this today in a statement to the press:
“There has been so much chatter about an Angry Birds movie, but it’s now real, the process is starting now. People are interacting with these characters six inches from them each time they play, and that creates an emotional connection. It’s a global thing that’s something I’ve never seen before. It will be exciting to expand Angry Birds within Hollywood.”
So we now have: handheld versions of the game on all platforms (except BlackBerry), a desktop version downloadable through Google’s Chrome market place, a Mattel made board game, plush toys and action figurines, the infamous Halloween costumes, and soon a movie to fulfill our crazed appetite for destruction.
Good on Rovio (the Finland based creator of the popular game) for milking this franchise for all it’s worth.
