Enflick Surpasses 15 Million Users of Its Free Mobile Messaging Apps, TextNow & PingChat

It comes as no surprise that when most people hear the name “Enflick” they have no idea who they are or the impact they’ve had on the mobile space. Almost two years ago, when the instant messenger craze was still in its infancy, a small Waterloo based start-up called Enflick saw a void with the then also infant iPhone: it didn’t have a BBM-esque IM client. Thus, pingCHAT was conceived and became the first BBM clone to go “viral”. The sad part is a number of variables came into play, causing pingCHAT to lose its mobile dominance, ushering in the likes of Kik, Whatsapp, and LiveProfile to takeover as the go-to household brands.
Now that you’re caught up on who Enflick is and why they’re worthy of the article, onto some better news. Enflick announced today that it has surpassed more than 15 million users sending and receiving messages using its two free mobile applications, PingChat! and TextNow. And since its first mobile product was launched, Enflick customers have sent an estimated 2 billion messages to friends and family, with a combined savings to users of more than $400 million. Derek Ting, Co-Founder and CEO had this to say: “Surpassing more than 15 million users of our apps is amazing and we are proud to support the world’s largest community of people using free text messaging services”.
