Bell fined for misleading advertising
In what is sure to bring a smile to plenty of Canadians’ faces, Canada’s Competition Bureau today announced that Bell has agreed to a settlement in a case involving misleading advertising. From December 2007 onwards, Bell was found guilty of enticing customers with low-cost plans that were not possible to purchase. Under the terms of the settlement, Bell will pay a $10-million fine, the largest monetary penalty available under the Competition Act, and has sixty days to bring all of its advertising into full compliance.
