Thanks to one of BGR’s anonymous sources, today we have a bit more information to report on the first Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” smartphone from Google. Purportedly dubbed either the Google Nexus Prime or Nexus Prime, the device is said to be built by Samsung and feature some rather jaw-dropping specs, including a large 720p display (possibly branded as “Super AMOLED HD”) and a 1.5 GHz dual-core TI OMAP4460 processor. Previous rumours from BGR also peg the device as having an LTE radio, 1GB of RAM, full 1080p playback, and an innovative 5 megapixel camera with “class-leading image quality in addition to superior low-light performance.” Perhaps the greatest news here isn’t even the device itself. In what could be a departure from tradition, the Nexus Prime might be the first flagship “pure Google experience” device to land on more than one major U.S. carrier, with AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon said to be in the mix to carry the superphone. We’d love for this to be the case, but as with all rumors from good sources, we’ll remain cautiously optimistic until everything is nice and official.
