A few hours ago Foursquare released a new version of their app in BlackBerry App World. They tweeted about the release of the new version - 1.9.97 - at 11 AM (Toronto time) this morning.

As they wrote in the tweet above and in the release notes on the screenshot below, the new version of the app will allow for improved support for Specials. As well, it now allows people (USA only as far as we can tell) to redeem AmEx Specials.

Let’s hope that Foursquare also included some bug fixes and general improvement of the app’s code before they released this new version. Beyond that, BlackBerry users are still waiting for Foursquare to drop some 3.0 love on them.
