WIND Mobile today announced that Anthony Lacavera, founder and Chairman of WIND Mobile will also take on the responsibilities of the company’s CEO, replacing previous CEO Ken Campbell. Campbell joined WIND in when it was still just a start-up and has helped the company grow to its current subscriber base and market position.

Lacavera was quoted as saying that, “Ken has been an integral part of the WIND Mobile team since day one – overseeing the launch of the brand, building our customer base and network and navigating the company through a tumultuous regulatory environment,” he went on to wish Mr. Campbell all the success in his future endeavors.

Since launching just over a year ago, WIND Mobile has expanded rapidly and is now selling in more than 500 locations across Canada and is planning to expand the network coverage in the coming year.

Although everything seems all nice on the service I have to wonder what is causing this shift? It could be nothing more than Lacavera wanting to take more control of the company he founded or it could be something much more serious. We don’t know. There was an indication that Lacavera wants to start bridging the gap between WIND (the mobile provider) and another brand owned by its parent company, Globalive, Yak Communications (a fixed line telephone service and long distance provider).
