There are few details on the two new Sony Ericsson devices announced – the Xperia Active and the Xperia Ray.

The ray seems to be aimed at a sporty demographic whose active lifestyle may not be the best environment for a high-end electronic. Durable and apparently water-resistant, Sony may have a phone that sticks out of a long lineup of similar working Android phones. This and with the Xperia play are clear departures from the standard – good on Sony Ericsson for catering to niche audiences.

As for the Xperia Ray, it’s quite a nice looking phone that sports the Bravia engine, like it’s older brother, the Xperia Arc. In fact, it’s hard to tell how exactly it will differ from the Arc – my guess is that it’ll have upgraded hardware but that’s just speculation.

According to the Associated Press/Huffington Post, these phones are slated for release in the third quarter of this year and will be priced below the aforementioned Xperia Arc and Xperia Play.

It’s a little strange that nothing has been announced about the allegedly leaked Xperia Duo.
