Stephen Elop has been under fire by the media lately for outlandish statements and questionable decisions but it all feels like a set up and Elop may be getting the last laugh.

At Nokia Connection 2011, the first MeeGo (Nokia’s native mobile operating system) products of this year were announced with the unveiling of the N9 (also known as Lankku). The smart phone, with its 3.9-inch AMOLED screen (854 x 480), looks interesting and, given Nokia’s predicament, will hopefully inspire interest in the struggling company.

Sporting a bevy of competitive specs, the only question that needs answering is whether this operating system is relevant in an iOS/Android world. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have the greatest app support – a fatal setback. In any case, hopefully we’ll get our hands on this soon and let you know if it lives up to expectation.
