iOS 5 Tethered Jailbreak Now Available via redsn0w

It never fails to amaze me how fast these hackers work; having already jailbroken - albeit tethered - iOS 5 and now subsequently releasing the solution via redsn0w. This jailbreak, as always, allows access to the Cydia community and all the unauthorized Apple apps money can buy (support your Devs!!!). Take note: if you are one of those people with a factory unlocked iPhone, stay away from this hack; as it is very likely upgrade your baseband, forcing you to lose your unlock capabilities.
Other things one should know before getting down to the nitty gritty: for now, the redsn0w beta tool is Mac-only, therefore, this jailbreak is only for Mac users of iOS 5 beta; it supports third- and fourth-generation iPod touch, iPad 1, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 (both CDMA and GSM version); because this solution is tethered, it also means you’ll need to use the redsn0w tool each time you restart your device and also to use apps like Cydia and Safari. The dev team went as far as saying “If you see a white icon for Cydia, or if Cydia or Safari crash when you open them, it’s because you didn’t boot tethered”
If you have read this post and still want to test the tethered Jailbreak waters out on iOS 5, you can pick up the redsn0w jailbreak via the Dev-team blog here. Please note: TheCellularGuru.com takes no responsibility if any issues occur during the jailbreak process. Please, we can’t stress it enough, do your research or ask around Twitter if you aren’t sure; there are plenty of people happy to help those in need.
