Rogers Begins 4G HSPA+ Maritime Network Enhancements

Good news for all you folks out there in Maritime Canada who are Rogers customers. Rogers just announced that they are expanding their 4G HSPA+ coverage so the network will include almost a million more Maritimers. The enhancements will result in greater signal strength, increased device selection, and faster internet speeds in Nova Scotia (NS), New Brunswick (NB), and Prince Edward Island (PEI).
This development of the network will begin development this month and is scheduled to be ongoing through 2012. It is going to cost the company $80-million and will result in a 130% increase over current population coverage. This expansion will also mean that once completed 94% of the Maritime provinces’ population will be covered by the Rogers 4G HSPA+ network.
I am also going to assume this information is the same for Fido because they are also owned and operated by Rogers and use the same network.
Currently, as seen in the above map, Rogers 4G HSPA+ which delivers data speeds up to 21 Mbps is available in the Maritime provinces in these cities/urban areas: NB - Fredericton, Saint John, Moncton; NS - Halifax, Truro, New Glasgow; PEI - Charlottetown and Summerside
