Windows’s new operating system (Codenamed Windows 8 ) has been in development for quite some time and some have speculated that it would be a tablet-compatible operating system. Well, at D9 Microsoft gave a preview of what they’ve been working on and it seems tailored for a touch screen; the user interface looks startlingly similar to the Windows phone 7, albeit with a lot more functionality.

It’s a streamlined operating system that is consumer-friendly but is that really what everyone is looking for in their operating system? Many businesses and programmers use windows as their operating system, and it’s unclear whether those communities will be accept this user interface. It’s certainly a bold move and it will be interesting to see if it pays off in the end.
